Blepharoplasty is the word used for removing upper lid tissue, which normally is causing hooding and disfigurement. Sometimes blepharoplasty is done in association with eyelid elevation, which is called ptosis.
Blepharoplasty usually results in better vision due to less fatigue in holding the upper lids up and cosmetic benefits with the appearance of a skin crease and an upper lid platform, allowing the use of make up and improved overall cosmesis.
