Laser Eye Correction Procedure Information

Arrow Laser Procedure Information

All laser surgery is done using local anaesthetic. When you arrive at the surgery centre you will have a series of drops to ensure your eyes are prepared. You will be given a surgical cap and boots to wear into the procedure room. Each eye will take about 15 minutes, although you will be at the clinic for about 1½ hours.

You will not feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure. All you will see is a series of bright lights and your vision may even black out at some points. You may also be aware of the pressure of the suction ring when the LASIK flap is being created. Dr Harrisberg will talk you through the procedure and will instruct you when required. Apart from that all you need to do is relax. Light sedation is also available if needed.

After the procedure you will need to have someone drive you home. It will help to bring sunglasses to wear to help with the glare and to protect the eyes. Often when the anaesthetic wears off the eyes will water and feel slightly irritated. This is normal and will pass quickly. We will give you shields to wear for the first 3 nights to protect the eye when you sleep.

Dr Harrisberg will see you the next day to ensure the eyes are healing and to check your vision. Generally most patients have more than 90% of their vision back even at this early stage. Most people return to work just two days after the procedure.
